WP Rugby will be hosting level 1 & 2 World Rugby coaching courses during 2018.

These courses are for Coaches of a group of players working under the guidance of a head coach, coaching coordinator or NGB scheme.

ON SUCCESFULL COMPLETION OF THE COURSE A COACH WILL BE ABLE TO:
• Identify playing positions, methods of scoring and attack and defence.
• Apply the principles of rugby to the play of a team.
• Identify skill faults.
• Plan a session.
• Deliver a session.
• Apply risk management and ethics
• Laws of the game

MINIMUM DURATION
8 Hours

LEVEL 2 WR COACHING COURSE

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Plan, deliver and review coaching sessions.

WHO IS IT FOR?
Coach of a group or team of players e.g. youth club coach, club coach, teacher, representative coach and talent development coach.

ATTENDANCE OR ACCREDITATION
Accreditation- competency based assessment using formal transcript.

ON SUCCESFULL COMPLETION OF THE COURSE A COACH WILL BE ABLE TO:
• Identify technical and generic coaching skills.
• Self-reflect on own performance as a coach.
• Define the core values of Rugby Union.
• Develop a coaching and playing philosophy.
• Use the principles of attack and defense to analyze the play of a team.
• Plan and review a cycle of 6 sessions.
• Use key factors analysis as a tool for player improvement.
• Understand the concept of functional role analysis.
• Develop some criteria for selection.
• Discuss contemporary law issues.

MINIMUM DURATION
National hours: 30 pre-course work, 5×3 hour modules, 6 game diary and a live assessment visit.

PREREQUISITES
• Be actively coaching a team.
• Over 18 years and older.
• Complete self-test at: www.irbpassport.com, www.irbrugbyready.com, www.irblaws.com
• Complete a 6 session diary
