President’s Cup Finals showcase the very best of WP Club Rugby

The President’s Cup Finals brought the house down in front of a packed City Park on Monday 25th September.

A total of six finals were played on the day as clubs vied for the final piece of silverware of the WP Club Rugby season.

The day got underway with the Super League A Bottom 8 final between Union-Milnerton and Vics. In what was a thrilling contest, it was Ishma-eel Dollie’s team that emerged victorious 41 – 36 in their fourth successive President’s Cup Final.

Young Peoples defeated Rangers 11 – 10 while Kylemore beat Strand United 35 – 24 in the other Bottom 8 finals.

The Top 6 Finals began with Super League C champions Vineyards claiming a historic double as they beat Scottsdene 38 – 21.

Franschhoek United and Hamlets gave their boisterous travelling fans something to cheer about as they contested the SLB Final. It was the men from Mamre who emerged 27 – 10 in a hotly contested game.

The day ended with the SLA Final between Maties and Hamiltons. The rugby on show was of a high caliber with both teams pulling no punches. After 80 minutes it was the SLA Champions Maties who would secure their second successive President’s Cup courtesy of a 36 – 29 win.

Vineyards 38 – 21 Scottsdene-Central

Maties 36 – 29 Hamiltons
