This weekend is the opening round of the prestigious Gold Cup – the three nation club rugby tournament.
With the final teams being confirmed last weekend, the countdown to the start of the Gold Cup has officially begun.
WP will be represented by last season’s beaten finalists False Bay, as well as wildcard entry Tygerberg.
False Bay have been drawn in a tough-looking Pool D with College Rovers (Durban), Western Suburbs (Namibia), Roses United (Boland), and Sishen (Griquas).
This Saturday they open their campaign against Roses at the Phillip Herbstein stadium in Constantia at 15h00.
“We are ready to represent our club, community, and province with pride in this year’s Gold Cup,” Head Coach Jono van der Walt told CRTV.
Tygerberg meanwhile will make their Gold Cup debut at home to Progress Uitenhage on Sunday 10th September.
Ricky Petersen’s men have been drawn in Pool B alongside Progress George (SWD), Progress Uitenhage (EP), Swallows (Border), and Old Selbornians (Border)
The Florida Park faithful will have plenty to look forward to off the field with food stalls, dancing competitions, as well a special performance from Siv Ngesi to keep them entertained.
Kick-off for Sunday’s clash is at 14h00.
